The Biblical Doctrine of Marriage Illustrated by God.

The main purpose of marriage is that two become one. God created man in His likeness and image. The key is found in John 17:11 "Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom you have given Me, that they maybe one, as We are".

Cultural Weddings in Ancient Times

Weddings of old are quite different from our modern day weddings, especially in the United States. Today all our attention is on the bride, however, in times past, the center of attention was on the groom. He would court (date) her for a season to see her heart and inner self. Then he would arrainge the wedding with her father. As the bride perpared herself, the groom would set up and perpare his home for her. Then on the wedding day, the groom would dress spectactular, fully decked out if you know what I mean. Then he went to her house and escorted her to the wedding ceremony. Now all the attention was on the groom, for he has choosen a wife for himself. Then they celebrated with a great feast together with their invited guest.

The Bride of Christ

Weddings of old times are an example for us today as the mystery of the Church has been revealed.
